The Zombie Zin is sporting a new label design with a torn look, that suggests a window into another world.  The colors are more vibrant earth-tones and the capsule is a deep red.  The grapes for the Zombie are sourced throughout California, mostly from the dry, hot sandy soils of the Delta region and the Central Valley. The final blend benefitted from some inky Syrah grapes that came from the Central Coast.  The wine was fermented in Stainless Steel and aged for about a half a year in American oak.

The Zombie Zinfandel is very dark in color, almost a black-purple.  The aromas are of ripe, dense black fruits and a hint of dried herbs.  The flavors are complex and rich, sporting succulent blackberries, powdered cinnamon, cola and cherry jam.  Just a hint of black pepper in the long finish.

Food Parings:  Bloody BBQ meats, sinister soups with eye of newt, bubbly caldron of fleshy stew.

I thought the wine tasted delicious, but when I got to the bottom of the bottle it was gritty, so I let it sit and about 10 minutes later there looked like there was sand in the bottom of the glass. I put it on my finger and it appeared to be either glass shards or something...

Just had some at a family function. One of the best Zins I have had in a long time.

This has to be one of the best Zins in its price range I have ever tried. Even the Zombies we invited over had some very nice things to say about it.

Just a note about Ms. Stuckel's comment above: the "glass" you mentioned is tartrate crystals, caused by the completely natural interaction of tartaric acid and potassium, which bind during aging to form crystals. Tartaric acid is the EXACT same substance as cream of tartar that you use to cook and bake with. It's not at all unhealthy; quite the opposite, in fact, and a lot of wineries filter very finely to prevent formation of these which, sadly, also strips out flavor elements. No, they're not great to taste; a tad sour, in fact, and not a great texture but they're 100% natural and can easily be removed by simply pouring the wine through a fine strainer and into a decanter. You like this wine? By all means, drink it. We all run into crystals, now and then, and they're just a nuisance. Certainly no reason to give up a good wine.

Had this at a restaurant in Northern Michigan. Absolutely delicious! I love zin's, and this was fantastic, better than expected based on the price. Been looking for it in stores near my home (lower MI) but can't find it. I'll be ordering a case soon!

This is the official wine of the Houston Zombie Walk Charity Group. We tested many brands based on taste and cost, and Zombie Zin won hands down! We sell this wine at all our charity events and our followers couldn't be happier! www.houstonzombiewalk.org

This is one of the best Zinefandels I have tasted in a long time. I had the first bottle while watching AMC's The Walking Dead during their Dead White and Blue Weekend and it paired perfectly!

I'm a tad allergic to alcohol, so it has to be really good to get me to drink it and this certainly is! I received a bottle for my birthday from a colleague and my only regret is that the bottle is almost empty!
