1221 2014 Fleur de Lys
This wine was put together from two very aromatic wines from the prestigious Dry Creek Valley in Sonoma County. A third smaller portion of the grapes are Gewürztraminer from the Russian River Valley.
The Dry Creek Valley wines are a juicy combination of Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. These two wines complement each other very well. The 1221 profile usually contains at least some portion of these two varietals. With just a touch of Gewürztraminer to enhance and showcase the delicate floral, yet pronounced perfumes aromas. Other detectable aromas include pineapple, green apple, and a pleasant touch of caramel and honeysuckle. The pleasing and intricate flavors are full of tropical fruits with lots of tangerine, vanilla bean, lemon and limes. The three varietals are well-balanced, with a succulent acidity, and a lengthy finish of lemon zest and a hint of spice. Again, with this 2014 vintage, the blend is surprisingly unique with complex layers that really make this a one-of-a-kind wine.
Try the 1221 FDL with luncheon meals like a spinach salad with grilled asparagus and feta cheese, smoked salmon sushi, or a wild mushroom fettuccini.
