2012 Petite Sirah Estate
Petite Sirah and Dry Creek Valley soils seem to be natural mates. The grapes were picked on October 4th, 2012. Hand crushed, fermented in a bin then pressed to a barrel, where our 1 lonely barrel aged for 13 months. At that time, we bottled it into 25 cases. Prior to release, it was aged another 3 months in the bottle, rounding out the aromas and flavors.
Tasting Notes: Gorgeous dark purple meets black in color, sumptuous aromas of warm cranberry jam over buttered toast. A well-balanced wine with excellent acidity. The complex flavors are intermingled with overripe blackberry fruit and some interesting earthy, eucalyptus tones. Some hints of plum and licorice as well. The finish is surprisingly subtle, yet rich and continues a long way with fresh bright cherry throughout. Quite the dreamy showing of the intricate varietal characteristics.
707 Petite Sirah is the new-found friend for Foodies. Our suggestions would include: Grilled Lamb Chops with a Cranberry Reduction, Duck Comfit, or a Wild Mushroom Linguini.
