2015 Sangiovese Chalk Hill
This 707 Chalk Hill Sangiovese is an elegant yet robust take on this Italian grape. Italian immigrants brought Sangiovese to California in the late 19th century, possibly at the Segheshio Family's "Chianti Station," near Geyserville. Some say it's a California version of Italy's famous Chianti with a more powerful punch.
The 707 Sangiovese is a sumptuous, stand-alone selection. The bright, tart cherry aromatics soften into violet and plum tones. This wines delectable flavors tend to the dusty blackberry, dried herbs and blueberries throughout. The tantalizing acidity is in perfect balance, as the subtle finish carries into cocoa and cinnamon elements. Truly a classic style Sangiovese.
